We have power back!

Shortly after I did the post below this one, all the electricity in our neighborhood went out. It came back about an hour ago. We're hoping it won't go out again during the course of the Sabbath.

We had about half a meter (19 and a half inches) of snow overnight. There is more expected tonight, but for now, it has stopped. It's cold but the sun is out. Images of the Great Blizzard of '78 (in New York and Boston) keep flashing through my mind....

Getting to synagogue in the dark (no street lights, synagogue services by flashlight and candle light) this morning at 5:30 am was quite a trip....

So beautiful! Living in really dry country, I see stacks of snow as recharge for aquifers and reservoirs! Runoff takes the pressure off the desal plants. A good year!
